Stainless steel chains from 1.2mm to 7.5mm, in every standard link construction. A few carry a coloured ion finish over the steel â black, yellow or grey â named on the product page.
Why steel. Stainless steel does not tarnish, will not turn skin green, and holds its polish indefinitely. It is considerably harder than gold or silver, so a thinner chain carries more weight and resists the stretching that fine precious-metal chains are prone to. It is also hypoallergenic, which makes it a practical choice for daily wear.
Links. Curb and figaro lie flush against the skin. Box and rope hang straight and take a pendant well. Snake and herringbone lie completely flat and smooth. Ball, rolo and cable give a rounder, more casual line. Franco and wheat are the densest constructions here and the most durable at narrow widths.
Most chains come in several lengths, from 16 to 36 inches, selectable on the product page. Titanium chains are included in this range â roughly half the weight of steel at the same size, and highly scratch resistant.
