Quartz or automatic. Most run on a Japanese quartz movement, battery powered and accurate without winding. Several are automatics â self-winding from the motion of your wrist, no battery at all, and some show the movement through a skeleton dial.
Complications. Chronographs with a stopwatch display and tachymeter bezel, date and day-date windows, and dual-time models for a second zone. The rest are three-hand watches that just tell the time.
Cases and bands. 38 to 46 mm, with 40 mm the most common size here. Stainless steel bracelets and mesh bands, leather straps, and a few on silicone and nylon. A mineral crystal over every dial.
Finishes and dials. Black, gold-tone and blue colors are an IP (ion) finish bonded to the steel, which wears better than a conventional coating. Dials come in black, silver-tone, blue, white, red, green and gold-tone, marked with Arabic numerals, Roman numerals or luminous markers.
Water resistance. Most are 3 ATM â splashes and rain. Others are rated 10 ATM, which covers swimming. Each product page states its rating.
