Knotwork. Celtic knot bands with the pattern running unbroken around the ring, which is the point of the motif: no beginning and no end.
Openwork and texture. Cut-through patterns, hammered and brushed surfaces, and shaped bands that widen across the top.
Sizing. Most can be sized by a jeweller, but a ring with a continuous pattern around the band is much harder to alter than one with a plain shank — worth checking before buying if the size is uncertain.
