Why is 10K gold less expensive than 14K?
Less gold in the alloy: 41.7% against 58.3%. Gold content is the cost, which is why a 10K ring of the same design and weight prices below its 14K counterpart while wearing harder.
How are men's ring sizes different?
The same scale, just further along it: men's rings commonly run size 8 to 14 where women's run 4 to 9. Width is the bigger difference, as men's bands are usually 4 mm and up.
What is black onyx?
A solid black chalcedony, cut flat or domed. It takes a high polish and is a mainstay of men's rings.
Does the knuckle matter when sizing?
It decides the size. The ring has to pass the knuckle, so measure there as well as at the base of the finger and take the larger of the two.
How do I look after it?
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. 10K shrugs off daily wear better than most golds, but it still picks up lotion and soap film.
