The stone. Quartz coloured purple by iron, running from pale lilac to deep violet. February's birthstone, and the largest single gemstone group in our silver bracelets.
Why silver suits it. The cool tone of sterling sharpens purple in a way yellow gold does not â the two colours sit opposite each other, which is why almost every amethyst bracelet you see is set in white metal.
Settings. Continuous lines, spaced stations and tennis-style constructions.
Caution. Amethyst fades with prolonged sunlight. Normal wear is fine; a sunny windowsill is not.
