Gauge matters most. Nostril piercings are usually 20 or 22 gauge. Gauge is the bar thickness and does not change with style — match it to your piercing rather than to the look you want.
Fittings. A bone has a small ball at the end that holds it in. A screw curves so it sits without a stop. An L-bend is easiest to insert. Which suits you depends on your anatomy more than preference.
Why solid gold. A nostril piercing sits in tissue that reacts badly to nickel, which is what most plated body jewelry contains under the surface. Solid 14K removes that variable.
