More about these necklaces
Why white gold for a diamond.
White gold is 14K gold alloyed white and finished with rhodium. The cool surface sits closer to the colour of a white diamond than yellow gold does, which is why solitaires are so often set in it.
Lab grown and mined.
Some pieces are lab grown diamonds, which are chemically and optically the same as mined diamonds and are graded the same way. Every lab grown piece says so in its title, its description and its specifications â never in the small print.
Carat weight.
Carat weight is the total across every stone in the piece, which is why a cluster or station design can carry a higher total than a solitaire at the same price. Each product page lists its own total weight.
How the stones are set.
Bezel settings wrap the stone in a rim of metal â the most secure choice for daily wear. Prong settings lift the stone so more light reaches it. Both are used here, and each product page says which.
Common questions
Is 14K white gold solid gold?
Yes â 14K is 58.3% pure gold, stamped 14K. It is alloyed white rather than plated, and finished with rhodium for the bright white surface.
Does the rhodium finish wear?
On a necklace it sees far less friction than a ring, so it lasts for years. A jeweller can re-finish it when it eventually dulls.
What is a lab grown diamond?
A diamond grown in a laboratory rather than mined. It is the same material, graded the same way, and costs less for the same size and quality. Every lab grown piece here says so in its title and description.
