A Byzantine chain is built from small oval links woven back through each other in a repeating four-link pattern, producing a dense, rope-like cord that stays flexible and catches light along every face. It is one of the oldest chain weaves still in production and reads as substantially heavier than its width suggests. Sterling silver is 92.5 percent pure silver, stamped 925.
