Rose Gold Crosses

The metal. Rose gold takes its color from copper in the alloy. The gold content is the same as yellow or white at the same karat — 14K is 58.3 per cent gold either way — so the difference is tone, not quality. It reads warmer against most skin than yellow does, and it does not need the rhodium finish white gold relies on to stay bright.

What is here. Plain crosses, sideways cross necklaces worn horizontally on the chain, and designs set with diamonds. Bail sizes fit standard chains, so a pendant here will hang on a chain you already own.

Mixing metals. A rose gold cross sits well on a yellow or a white chain — worn together the contrast is the point, not a mismatch.
