The designs. Daisies, roses and rosebuds, plumeria, and bands worked with leaves, vines and grape clusters. Some are open floral shapes you can see through; others are a solid band with the motif carved or cut into the top. A few set the center of the flower with a diamond, a cubic zirconia or a lab-created stone.
Black Hills Gold. Several of these are Black Hills Gold, the Landstrom's style made in South Dakota — grape-and-leaf designs in yellow, rose and green gold on one ring, which is where the tri-color look comes from. The leaves are applied by hand, so no two are quite identical.
What to know about the metal. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and is often finished with rhodium, a surface treatment that slows tarnish and keeps the white color bright. Gold pieces are stamped for their purity and guaranteed authentic — solid karat gold, never filled.
