A curb chain has flattened, interlocking links that lie flat against the skin. Stainless steel is a hypoallergenic alloy that does not tarnish, will not turn skin green, and holds its polish indefinitely. It is also considerably harder than gold or silver, so a thinner chain carries more weight.
