The Sterling Silver Mother of Pearl Heart Post Earrings are solid .925 sterling silver with a polished finish. The silver is rhodium finished, the same white metal used on white gold, which brightens the surface and slows tarnishing. Each earring holds a natural mother of pearl heart, cut from shell, so the color shifts between white, cream and pink as the light moves.
Each earring measures 6.85 mm by 7.5 mm. They fasten with a post and push-on back, the standard stud fitting. Average weight is 0.95 grams.
At .925 these are sterling silver through the body of the piece, not a silver coating over base metal. Mother of pearl is the natural iridescent lining of a shell, so no two pieces carry exactly the same pattern.
